ABOUT ME

Hey y'all!

My name is Emily Fishman and I'm a senior at the University of Michigan. I'm originally from Houston, Texas, hence the affinity for "y'all." I'm an English major with a Minor in Writing.

When I'm not in class, I work as a peer writing consultant for the Sweetland Peer Writing Center and formerly as a primary copy editor for The Michigan Daily. I really like writing, in case it wasn't obvious.

I'm a leader and an emcee for a campus ministry here at the University, which is super fun! I love all the opportunities it provides me with for meeting new people.

Other fun things about me include my obsession with my cat, my passionate defense of dark chocolate, my knowledge of Harry Potter trivia, and my love of all things Broadway (as a recovering high school theatre nerd).

A little more serious now, I'd love to eventually work in a creative field post-grad, particularly for a publishing company. I have a complicated relationship with calling myself a writer, but this portfolio process has taught me so much about myself both as a writer and a person.
